Matthew L. Schissler, Founder, Chairman and CEO, Cord Blood America, Inc.
President, CorCell Companies, Inc.

Mr. Schissler founded Cord Blood America, Inc. in 2003 with the vision of bringing the life saving potential of stem cells to families nationwide and internationally.  The cord blood subsidiary, Cord Partners, Inc., achieved rapid growth which was supplemented by two cord blood acquisitions. The three companies are now merged into one entity, CorCell Companies, Inc. with headquarters in Philadelphia, PA. Cord Blood America, Inc. is a publicly traded company (CBAI.OB).

Mr. Schissler’s prior experience includes launching several companies that focused on the business to consumer market. In addition, he founded RainMakers International in 2001, which quickly became a powerhouse in direct response television and radio advertising. RainMakers International is a subsidiary of Cord Blood America, Inc.

Prior to founding RainMakers, Mr. Schissler held the position of Senior Regional Director for TMP Worldwide, formerly System One Technical, a company dedicated to solving employer recruitment challenges.   During his 7 year tenure, Mr. Schissler was instrumental in starting 4 separate business units for System One/TMP, yielding 3 of the most profitable offices in System One history, including New York, Atlanta and Dallas.  He was also responsible for developing and implementing a national sales training program for the company.

Mr. Schissler holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology and Public Policy from St. Mary’s College of Maryland.

Jack Goldberg, M.D., Medical Director

Dr. Jack Goldberg has served as medical director at CorCell since 1996.  He also serves as the Chief of the Division of Hematology and Oncology at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, University of Pennsylvania Health System.

Dr. Goldberg received his medical training at the State University of New York (SUNY) Health Science Center in Syracuse, New York.  Following his internship and residency programs at University Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts, Dr. Goldberg returned to SUNY Health Science Center to complete a fellowship program in hematology and medical oncology. 

As a faculty member at SUNY Health Science Center, Dr. Goldberg established a career in academic hematology and medical oncology where he was appointed associate professor of medicine and pathology.  There, Dr. Goldberg actively conducted research in hematopoiesis and disorders of the blood including leukemia and lymphoma.

In 1989, Dr. Goldberg was tapped to lead the Cooper Cancer Institute and the Division of Hematology and Medical Oncology at Cooper Health System in Camden, NJ, where he was appointed professor of medicine of the institution’s affiliated medical school, Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, UMDNJ.  During this time, Dr. Goldberg also served as the American Cancer Society Professor of Clinical Oncology and medical director of the Coagulation Laboratory and the Adult Hemophilia Center of the Cooper Health System.

With more than 80 published articles in peer reviewed journals, Dr. Goldberg consults with the National Cancer Institute, serving on a number of review committees.  He also serves as the head of the New Jersey Pain Initiative.  He is also a board member of the American Cancer Society, the Leukemia Society and the HLA Registry.

Marion Malone, Vice President, Business Development

Marion Malone has over 25 years experience in business development, mergers and acquisitions and business expansion planning both in the United States and Europe in a variety of service industries. Her background includes 15 years in business development as an investment banker for Barclays Bank and Prudential Insurance in New York, followed by 5 years in a series of management consulting assignments. Clients included Prudential Insurance, State Farm Insurance, Rolls Royce Plc and the US Agency for International Development.

Ms. Malone spent three years with Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia developing and managing the fundraising program. Marketing programs raised funds to pursue first rate patient care and translational medicine at Jefferson, especially for the neurosciences, cardiac care and cancer programs as well as providing for the less fortunate in the Philadelphia community.

Ms. Malone has been employed by CorCell since 2004, focusing primarily on partnership development between the cord blood banking business and the primary players in the health care industry such as insurance companies, hospitals and disease management companies. 

Ms. Malone holds a B.A. in Mathematics and French from University College Dublin, Ireland and an M.B.A. in Finance from New York University.

Jill Hutt, Director, Business Development

Jill Hutt has over 25 years of marketing and sales management experience in the health insurance and consumer textile products industries.  Her expertise includes new product development and market expansion for major for-profit and non-profit companies. 

Ms. Hutt’s health insurance industry experience includes 11 years with Independence Blue Cross (IBC) in sales, marketing and product management roles based in Pennsylvania and Delaware.  During her tenure at IBC, she expanded managed care products into new market segments and launched new health insurance products regionally and nationally.  During Ms. Hutt’s 12 years in textile consumer products, she held sales positions for major textile manufacturers in New York, California and Pennsylvania, and also launched her own textile design firm.

Ms. Hutt has been employed by CorCell since 2005, focusing primarily on meeting the needs of CorCell’s partners including health insurers, the labor markets, employer groups and physician practices. 

Ms. Hutt holds a Bachelors degree in Business Administration from Bucknell University, with additional education and training from the American Management Association, Certified Employee Benefits Plan Foundation, and Temple University.

Bruce Ditnes, Director, Customer Sales

Bruce Ditnes brings to CorCell more than 25 years of experience in sales, including more than a decade in sales management positions. Mr. Ditnes’ sales management experience began as the founder and publisher of a nationally distributed healthcare publication utilized by regional hospital chains to assist families coping with the depreciating health of aging parents. Mr. Ditnes also held sales management positions with companies that were prominent in the field of education, providing online research databases that were used by schools, universities, and public libraries throughout the United States. Mr. Ditnes attended Temple University, majoring in Journalism.

Mr. Ditnes has been employed by CorCell since 2004 with responsibility for sales.
