The CorCell Process

Storage

The umbilical cord blood specimen is then transferred to long-term storage in liquid nitrogen tanks at regulated temperatures. These tanks are equipped with a 24-hour monitored alarm device along with a backup system meeting regulatory standards. All specimens have unique identification codes and assigned inventory locations in the tanks for easy identification and retrieval.

Specimen Retrieval

We know that cord blood stem cells transplanted back into patients from our laboratories are proven to be clinically safe and effective. The patients confirm what we know is true.

Written standard operating procedures and strict controls for sterility and purity ensure quality processing and storage, identification and viability of the specimen for use as a medical therapy in the future. Parents and doctors can be sure that should the cells be needed for treatment, they will safely arrive at the hospital. They will be of excellent quality … with a strong cell recovery rate … and absolutely, positively identified to belong to the patient being treated.

It is important to know that CorCell selected our partner lab, Progenitor Cell Therapy, because of their:

  • Proven history with storage of umbilical cord blood as well as the manufacturing of stem cell therapies
  • Successful distribution of these products for medical use throughout the US
  • Status as one of the first labs to expand a cord blood specimen that was successfully transplanted
  • Engagement in development of future cell therapies

Because your cord blood has been processed and stored under cGMP standards it will not only be viable for current therapies, it will meet the standards of future therapies that are currently being researched and developed today.

Following are licenses and accreditations maintained by our cord blood stem cell processing and storage partner:
